Susan Yuen made this awesome KISS “I Wanna Rock and Roll All Nite” bento box for the “Rock My Bento” contest hosted by the Kawaii Bento Club in 2010. Participants were tasked with creating bento based on a favorite song, band, or album cover.  

“If I had to chose one hard rock song that I remember growing up, it would be “Rock and Roll All Nite” from the band KISS. Though I loved the song, I remember the band members even more. I mean who doesn’t recognize KISS with all of their funky make-up and outer space garb! I chose to make Gene Simmons for my bento since he was KISS’s front man.  Gene is basically one big musubi - molded out of rice and stuffed with chicken karaage. His hair is made from hijiki (a Japanese seaweed) that I cooked in shoyu, sugar, and mirin. Gene’s eyes and mouth are made out of kamaboko and his tongue from bologna. I also packed some grapes, broccoli, and a cherry tomato around his head.”

I got several, “Oh I never saw THAt tattoo on your arm before.”
“Well,” I said, “I’m slowly building up to a sleeve when I have the money to do so.”

“Oh god, Nichole! Don’t do that! Your arms are so pretty and what about what it’ll look like when you’re in a wedding dress?!”
“I think it’ll look great since I’ll like the art”
“Yes, sure, but I just think that looks so tacky!”

Then don’t fucking get tattoos for your wedding dress!
Plus why is my goal of life to look good in a god damn wedding dress? Why isn’t it to be covered in art I love that reflects who I am? 

I also got a few similar thing when I said I was think of dying my hair red again (or at least ginger) after about half a year of it being dark brown/black. 
I got a “Oh! But I love your black hair! Its sucha  pretty colour! I’ve always wanted that colour of hair!”

May I note my mother dyes her hair ALL of the time and it’s always brown with blond highlights. If she really wanted dark hair so much, she would’ve dyed it black at least once.

I HATED the stupid “think of what it’ll look like with your wedding dress”. Why should I care? Why should anyone care? I told my mom that if I ever got married I’d be wearing jeans and my Doc Martins and I kept my word on that.

Hope no one following my Tumblr doesn’t like snakes, frogs, lizards, and bugs because I tend to reblog a lot of them.

This right here is one of my dream snakes. So pearly and pink!
